(11/14/2014) When the 2014 fall edition of the Christian Journal of Education published and distributed by the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS) was recently released, it featured an article by CCC professor Dr. Pattye Casarow. The article was entitled "Integrating the Arts in the Elementary Classroom."
The emphasis of the article was on the importance and benefits of incorporating language, visual, and performing arts in the core academic curriculum. The premise of her article is that learning will be greatly enhanced when the arts accompany the learning process and, in addition, it makes the entire experience fun. Many practical examples were given in her presentation and several others should flow naturally from the minds of creative teachers as these principles are put into practical use.
Dr. Casarow heads the music department at Clearwater Christian College and often presents these concepts to education students through their methods courses.
