Dr. Ed Oliver, beloved professor and friend of Clearwater Christian College, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Monday evening, March 18, 2013. He served on the Bible faculty from 1977 until his retirement in 2002. Preceded in death by his wife Esther, Dr. Oliver leaves behind wife, Naomi, and sons, Scott and Gordon. Friends and family are invited to a visitation and viewing on Monday, March 25, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater. The funeral, home-going, and life-celebration will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26. Marine Corps graveside honors will occur immediately following the service.

Dr. Oliver taught Bible, Philosophy, and Church History to over three decades of CCC students. As such, he was a well-known and favorite amongst alumni and friends. After his retirement from CCC, he continued to teach an adult Sunday school class at his church and stayed active in academia. In 2009, his article entitled "In Defense of John Calvin" was published in an issue of the Western Reformed Seminary Journal.

Before her passing, Dr. Esther Oliver declared, "Dr. Oliver and Dr. Steele [founder of Clearwater Christian College] meet for lunch every week to fellowship—and solve the problems of the world—Christian and secular!" Dr. Oliver's wisdom will be missed.
